A case of someone crying wolf

Reports that a wolf was on the loose in Co Tyrone last week has turned out to be a bit of a fairy tale.

Police had advised people in the Aughnacloy area to be on the lookout after they received a report from a person claiming to be the four-legged creature’s owner, saying that it had gone missing.

But following inquiries it emerged the claim was false and was more of a case of someone ‘crying wolf’.

A PSNI spokesman said police had now established “that this report was erroneous”.

“There was no wolf at the location, therefore no wolf is at large,” he added.
