A rail treat in store for Halloween

Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble - the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland is cooking up a bewitching experience this weekend.

The Broomstick Belle steam train will be operating from Belfast Central to Whitehead on Sunday, and passengers are invited to don fancy dress.

"The Broomstick Belle has been growing in popularity over the years and it is a real fun occasion for all the family," said Mervyn Darragh of the RPSI.

"We will have entertainers on the train, a prize for the best fancy dress and our on-board witches and wizards will be distributing Halloween goodie bags to all the children."

The train makes two runs from Belfast Central to Whitehead, leaving at 11.45am and 2.20pm for a 90-minute round trip along Belfast Lough.

Tickets cost £8.50 per person and are on sale from the Belfast Welcome Centre, telephone: 9024 6690 and also online from www.steamtrainsireland.com
