First Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness tops a cross-community opinion poll, then Gerry Adams shows he too can attract support from the unionist community.
Or at least that's how it appears in a recent photograph that shows the Sinn Fein president being mobbed by three men decked in the Union flag.
The mystery trio wearing red, white and blue T-shirts and waving a bag emblazoned with the British flag nabbed the top republican at Belfast International Airport. Now their unlikely celebrity snap has been the subject of hundreds of emails and has sparked caption competitions on political websites.
The picture emerged this week after Martin McGuinness was voted ‘Best Assembly Minister' in a Belfast Telegraph poll that showed both Protestants and Catholics supported him.
Tune in next week to see the footage of Peter Robinson buying a round at Celtic Park. Well, maybe not.
