A girl aged 14 has been left traumatised after a gun was thrust in her face
during an aggravated burglary.
Three men, armed with a shotgun and a handgun, burst into a house in the
Cedars area of Antrim at 9.45pm last night.
After locking a woman and two young children in a bedroom, they forced her
husband to hand over a number of legally held firearms.
Antrim Deputy Mayor Adrian Watson, a family friend, today said that the
family are still in shock following the ordeal.
"I have just been to see the family at home," he said.
"They are still coming to terms with what happened. After the gunmen
forced their way into the house, they stuck a gun in a 14-year-old girl's
face and demanded her mobile phone."
Councillor Watson added: "It has been a horrific deal for the family.
They are still shaken up."
The first thief was in his 20s, approximately 5ft 3ins tall, stocky, with a
round face, and was wearing a hooded top, hat, jeans and training shoes.
Another was of a similar age, approximately 5ft 10 ins, with skinny build.
He also wore a navy coloured hooded top and balaclava. Anyone with
information should contact detectives on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers 0800
