All of the Night with Kinks legend at the Waterfront Hall
Tuesday, 24 April 2007
One of the most influential songwriters of the 60s and the man hailed as the original Godfather of Brit Pop is to play Belfast next month.
Ray Davies (right) of the legendary band The Kinks will take to the stage at the Waterfront Hall on Tuesday, May 22.
The singer will perform classic songs by The Kinks as well as tracks from his most recent album Other People's Lives.
Ray Davies founded The Kinks with his brother Dave in 1963, before going on to produce a string of top 10 international hits that have included You Really Got Me, All Day and All of the Night, Waterloo Sunset, Sunny Afternoon, Lola, Dedicated Follower of Fashion and Set Me Free.
Many of the UK's biggest artists have cited Davies as a major influence, including Paul Weller, Morrisey, Damon Albarn of Blur and Razorlight's Johnny Borrell, while bands who have covered The Kinks include The Pretenders, The Jam and The Stranglers.
In 1995, Davies published his unauthorised autobiography, X-Ray, to critical acclaim and since then has been touring internationally with his one-man show, The Storyteller.
His first solo album, also entitled Storyteller, was released in 1998.
The Kinks were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
Davies is currently working with the Really Useful Group to produce his new musical, Come Dancing.
Tickets to see Ray Davies in concert are available from the Waterfront Hall box office, 028 90 334455.
