Local producers get the chance to pitch to M&S
Saturday, 19 May 2007
Supermarket giant Marks and Spencer reiterated its commitment to promoting Northern Ireland produce by hosting its first 'meet the buyer' session.
Local producers of meat, vegetables, bread and dairy products were encouraged to go to the stand to meet senior buyers.
Malcolm Copeland, who looks after the Northern Ireland area, said: " This is a new initiative by Marks and Spencer to create a stronger bond between us and the producers.
"We already source 100% meat and poultry locally in the province, but have plans to move on to sourcing other products such as breads, dairy products, etc.
"Marks and Spencer currently operate 14 stores locally and, this year, we are celebrating 40 years' existence in Northern Ireland.
"Our new 'meet the buyer' session provides an excellent opportunity for local producers to come and meet us and discuss potential new developments for the future."
