Holiday timetables for bus and train services

By Lesley-Anne Henry
Wednesday, 11 July 2007

Public transport passengers are being advised of more timetable changes over the Twelfth and 13th holidays.

There will be a reduction in the number of bus and rail services travelling to and from many of the more rural areas of the province because of the Orange Order parades.

In Belfast, Metro services - which are already operating under a holiday timetable - will be reduced further to a public holiday service on Thursday and Friday.

And bus passengers should note that some roads in and around Belfast city centre will be closed to allow the main Orange Order parade to pass.

All passengers are advised to board at the Europa Bus Centre as other pick-up points including Laganside Bus Centre may be temporarily suspended.

Outside the city, Ulsterbus services may also be disrupted by the parades.

In Holywood, the B2/502 will not be operating between 11am and 5.30pm on Thursday. Instead passengers can picked up and set down at the bottom of Jacksons Road.

In Limavady Ulsterbus services are unable to serve the Catherine Street bus stop between 9am and 3.30pm on Thursday so passengers are advised to board at Limavady Bus Centre.

And in Ballymoney Ulsterbus services will depart from the Fire Station on the Knock Road. This means that Charles Street and the Kilraughts Road will not be served.

Lynda Shannon, Translink's Communications Manager, said passengers should avail of the holiday timetable.

She said: "It is important for all passengers who use our bus and rail services to travel to work or for leisure purposes during the summer season, to pick up a copy of the holiday timetables to ensure that they are able to plan their travel arrangements properly."

On Monday commuters were caught out when the summer train timetable was introduced for the rail network.
