The figurehead of the 'It's in Our Nature' campaign is now starring in the Environment and Heritage Service's new ezine - or email newsletter - which aims to spread the message that wildlife and nature is fun.

Rose Muir from EHS's Biodiversity Unit said: "We want to make the 'It's in our Nature' campaign more interactive and accessible and feel that a monthly ezine is an ideal solution.

"It's a colourful, fun read - jam-packed with the latest information on Northern Ireland's biodiversity."

Biodiversity simply means the whole variety of life found on earth, on both land and at sea, from humans to fish and from trees to fungi. The 'It's in our Nature' campaign has developed the new ezine to reach more people with news about their local biodiversity.

The ezine will also link people to the newly revamped campaign website at www.biodiversityni.com, which now includes an interactive Kid's Zone and lots of fun downloads like wallpapers and screensavers of the campaign's stars, including Cyril the Squirrel, the Basking Shark, the Blue Eyed Grass and the Brent Goose.

The website also allows people to find out more about the ongoing campaign and about biodiversity, helping them to discover exactly how to enjoy what Northern Ireland has to offer and even how to make a difference.

It also has links to the many organisations working to protect and promote Northern Ireland's biodiversity.
