Body of missing diver recovered

Monday, May 12, 2008

The body of a female diver was recovered yesterday almost a full day after a search was launched when she mysteriously disappeared at sea, writes Paddy Clancy.

Divers from the Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club located the body of the woman 15 metres down, in an area known as Paradise Cavern.

It is located about 400 metres off Arranmore Island, Co Donegal.

She was named locally as Ann Haurded (41) from Manchester in the UK.

An experienced diver, she had travelled with her partner to Ireland last week. The woman was diving with a number of other people on Saturday when she went missing from the group.

Her family were expected to arrive in Donegal last night and her body will be taken home later this week once a post-mortem examination has been carried out.
