Belfast Cemetery to open gates to all
Thursday, 14 August 2008
Belfast's oldest municipal cemetery opens its gates this weekend to people who felt unable to tend its graves during the Troubles.
The City Cemetery is the final resting place for people of all faiths, but because of its location on the republican Falls Road many Protestants have in the past been reluctant to visit.
Now Belfast council is hosting an open day, hoping to encourage citizens back to the 140-year-old facility. The visitors day on Sunday will run from 10am to 3pm.
