The section of Cromac Street between East Bridge Street and May Street is likely to be closed until the weekend.
Drivers have been warned to expect considerable congestion in this area and on its approaches during peak times and are advised to avoid the area altogether.
Diversion routes are in place and signposted.
Drivers approaching the city centre from the direction of east Belfast should consider crossing the Lagan via the Queen’s Bridge rather than the Albert Bridge.
There will, however, still be access to the Ormeau Road (countrybound) from Albertbridge Road and East Bridge Street.
Drivers using the Ormeau Road (citybound) to gain access to the city centre are advised, if possible, to find an alternative route as the signed diversion route of Ormeau |Avenue, Bedford Street and Howard Street is likely to be heavily congested.
This section of Cromac Street will remain closed to traffic whilst carriageway repairs are being carried out and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journey.
