Car deliberately crashed into house

A police officer surveys the scene where a Toyota Rav 4 was reversed through the living room window of a bungalow at Walnut Gardens in Larne and was then set on fire

A house has been extensively damaged in Larne after a car was driven into the front of the property.

The 4X4 type vehicle ploughed into the front of the house in the Walnut Gardens area of the town at around 9pm last night.

A neighbouring house was also damaged during the incident. Nobody was in either home at the time.

The PSNI today said initial inquiries suggest the car was driven into the house deliberately.

It is understood the car was then set alight by the culprits, however, a police spokesman said the cause of the fire has not yet been established.

Two males, reported to have been in the car, fled from the scene. Police are currently working to establish a motive for the incident.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or with information has been asked to contact police on 0845 600 8000.
