Cardinal Brady: Real clash of cultures is between believers and atheists

The real clash of cultures is between those who believe in God and those who do not and aggressively oppose its influence on law or morality, Cardinal Sean Brady said yesterday in a historic address at Trinity College Dublin.

The Cardinal became the first Catholic prelate since the foundation of the college in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I to address the Service of Thanksgiving and Commemoration in Trinity College Chapel.

He called for a new entente cordiale between Rome and Trinity and said the real clash of cultures in the world today is between religious believers and “the New Atheists”.
