John Terry will make no announcement regarding his future as England captain before a meeting with national team boss Fabio Capello, expected tomorrow.

The under-fire skipper was "keeping his counsel" despite calls for him to step down over claims he had an affair with the ex-partner of an England team-mate, his spokesman said,

Terry is expected to meet Capello on Friday after the manager returns to the UK from Switzerland, where he has been recovering following a knee operation.

The Football Association has made it clear Capello alone will decide the 29-year-old Chelsea defender's fate.

Terry's spokesman Phil Hall said: "John Terry asked me to make it clear that he has made absolutely no statement about his future as England captain.

"He is keeping his own counsel until he speaks to England manager Fabio Capello and then Mr Capello will decide what announcement will be made."

There have been more lurid headlines involving the woman he is said to have had an affair with - underwear model and ex-partner of Terry's England team mate Wayne Bridge, Vanessa Perroncel.

Reports yesterday suggested that she had flings with three more players. The claims, which involved past and present Chelsea stars, were dismissed by Ms Perroncel's publicist Max Clifford.

Responding to a story in The Sun relating to an alleged affair with one footballer in 2003, Mr Clifford said: "She met him when she used to work in a club, about 10 years ago.

"She knew him and she knew some of the players but she didn't have affairs with them.

"She knew lots of the footballers and lots of stars, as you do when you work in clubs."

The publicist said he would be meeting Ms Perroncel to discuss her next move. She is believed to have been offered up to £250,000 for her story.

She would be considering the future of her three-year-old son Jaydon when she made her decision, he said.

Mr Clifford has so far refused to be drawn on Ms Perroncel's alleged affair but insisted some reports about her were incorrect.

He has dismissed suggestions Ms Perroncel was in love with the England skipper, although they had been "close friends" for years.

Capello is understood to be keen to have the Terry captaincy issue settled before he travels to Warsaw for the qualifying draw for the 2012 European Championships this weekend.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Terry will remain as club captain but has suggested that he will be allowed time away from the team if he needs it.

The allegations relating to his private life came to light after a gagging order was lifted by Mr Justice Tugendhat at the High Court in London on Friday.

Terry, who was voted Dad of the Year last year in a Daddies Sauce survey, has two children with his wife, who has now fled the family home and reportedly flown to Dubai with the youngsters.
