A senior member of staff at Armagh City Council appeared at Newry Crown Court yesterday following a police investigation into child pornography.
William Aubrey McClintock (48) of Greenfield Park, Armagh, appeared before Armagh Magistrates last month after being charged with 17 counts of possession of indecent photos/pseudo photos of children.
The crimes are alleged to have taken place in February 2005.
Mr McClintock, who has been suspended from his role as a community regeneration officer with the council, is also involved in many high profile activities including the annual Charles Wood Summer School.
He also sits on several committees as a council representative, including the St Patrick's Day Festival and Armagh Church Forum.
Armagh City Council suspended Mr McClintock on November 29 pending a full investigation.
He has been committed for trial to the Crown Court at Newry on an unconfirmed date in the future.
