Couple and kids in armed raid ordeal

Police are hunting an armed gang who held a couple and their two young children at gunpoint at their home near Lisburn.

The robbery occurred shortly before 3pm yesterday when three masked men armed with a shotgun and pistol entered the house on the Flowbog Road in the Dundrod area. They forced the couple to sit on the kitchen floor while three flat-screen TVs and a sum of cash were taken.

The couple and their two young children, both aged under five, were not injured in the incident.

The robbers escaped in the family's blue VW Passat car and a Nissan Micra car, which was later found set alight at Cherry Park in Twinbrook.

It is believed that the Micra car was stolen from a woman driver who was parked outside a supermarket at Donnybrook Street on the Lisburn Road on Sunday evening.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 0845 600 8000 or through Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
