TV star Zoe Salmon and Northern Ireland football legend David Healy swapped the dizzying heights of fame for heights of a different kind in Belfast to launch Comic Relief’s Sport Relief 2010.

The celebrities took part in high-rope and abseiling challenges at the Belfast Activity Centre (BAC), which received a Comic Relief grant for a programme working with lone parents and the socially disadvantaged.

Northern Ireland has approximately 92,000 lone parent families — the group most vulnerable to poverty, according to a report commissioned by the Gingerbread Organisation 2007.

The Belfast Telegraph has teamed up with Sport Relief this year to award a number of community cash grants worth up to £1,000 to organisations that are working in a disadvantaged or deprived area within the local authority and small local groups with an income of less than £50,000.
