Dodds predicts end of Parades Commission

The DUP last night predicted the death knell for the “hated” Parades Commission.

And it pledged to help the Orange Order expand its range of education facilities and programmes.

Deputy leader Nigel Dodds also said the party aims this year to increase official recognition of the loyal orders to ensure their inclusion in all statutory and government consultations.

Arguing the institution had been sidelined under Direct Rule, the Executive Minister also claimed progress would be made this year on helping isolated border Protestant communities.

In a speech in his North Belfast constituency, the MP said the DUP could be proud of its achievements “working together with our friends in the Loyal Orders” and the “Strategic Review of Parading should ensure the demise of the hated Parades Commission”.
