John Leslie was arrested last night over a rape allegation.
The 43-year-old former Blue Peter presenter, acquitted of indecent assault in 2003, attended a London police station by appointment with officers investigating the accusation.
The Sun newspaper said the accuser was in her early 20s when she claims she was attacked at a party in Leslie's home.
A police spokesman said: “We are investigating an allegation of rape and indecent assault on a woman.
“The allegation dates from November 1995.
"At approximately 7pm this evening a man aged in his 40s attended a London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with the inquiry.
“He was interviewed and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in August.”
The former host of ITV's This Morning was acquitted in 2003 of two counts of indecent assault on a 23-year-old actress in 1997.
In 2002 Ulrika Jonsson said in her autobiography that she was raped by a well-known TV star. The book did not mention Leslie, but he was named in an apparent mistake by another TV host, Matthew Wright. No charges were brought following the allegations.
