The family of a teenager missing for more than a week have been left devastated after his body was recovered from the River Foyle.
Police have said they are not treating the death of 15-year-old Adam Barr as suspicious.
The grim discovery came just hours after police reiterated an appeal for information on the whereabouts of the schoolboy.
It is understood police were called to the banks of the River Foyle at about 4pm yesterday after a call was made by a member of the public. His grieving family last night said they were too upset to comment on the tragedy.
A PSNI spokeswoman said: “At this very difficult time, his family has asked to be left alone to grieve in private.”
However, a webpage set up on a social networking site following the disappearance of the teenager on February 7 was last night being inundated with messages of love and support from friends of the teenager.
One message of condolence on the specially created Bebo site that went live early at the weekend read: “adam ill miss you, and i’ll always remember you ladd. Rest In Peace Man, Your In A Better Place Now”.
