Family’s tribute to murdered teen model
Monday, 10 November 2008
Family and friends spoke of their shock last night after a teenage model was stabbed to death.
Amy Leigh Barnes was taken to hospital with stab wounds on Monday after police were called to her home in Farnworth, Bolton.
She later died in hospital as a result of her injuries.
Ms Barnes’s family yesterday paid tribute to their “beautiful princess”.
“Words cannot express the pain we are in. We loved our baby so much, she was our reason for living. She was the most beautiful princess,” a statement read.
Police were called on Saturday morning following reports that a woman had been stabbed.
Ms Barnes, a former pupil of Lords Independent School pupil, Bolton, was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital where she died.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in the West Midlands on Saturday night. The privately educated victim had dated Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy and worked on modelling assignments for Nuts, Playboy and Cosmopolitan, the Daily Mail reported.
