Farmer dies after being attacked by bull in pen
Monday, 18 June 2007
Howard Loughrin (79), a well-know breeder of pedigree stock, died at his farm on Mackenny Road outside Cookstown early on Saturday evening.
It is understood the family man had been in a pen with the bull when he was at tacked. It is believed he escaped but later died from his injuries.
Mr Loughrin is the third person to be killed by cattle this year, and one of five in the past few years.
A PSNI spokesperson said police were called to the scene of a sudden death of a man shortly before 7pm on Saturday and were not treating the death as suspicious.
It is understood the bull has been destroyed.
Last month former Sinn Fein councillor Michael McAnespie died after he was attacked by a bull on his farm in Loughmacrory.
Then just ten days later another man was killed by a cow in the Creggan Road area of Carrickmore.
