Frank admission as Christine Bleakley admits she is Lampard's WAG

Christine Bleakley

Christine Bleakley has been dodging the paparazzi and denying all rumours of a relationship with England footballer Frank Lampard.

But after weeks of being hounded by the Press to out her blossoming romance with the Chelsea midfielder she has finally admitted the pair are dating.

According to the Daily Mail, the Co Down beauty confirmed she was seeing ‘Lamps’ but that it was “early days”.

The admission comes after the 30-year-old was spotted having a cosy lunch with Lampard and a friend on Monday afternoon at the Hollywood Arms, a short walk from the footballer’s home in Chelsea.

Arriving at the pub the One Show presenter initially told the Mail that she was not seeing multi-millionaire Lampard, adding: “I can’t believe the interest in this story.”

But when she left the premises an hour later she was asked if she would like to change her story.

She then told the Mail: “Well, when you start seeing someone and it’s early days, you need to know them a bit before you come out and say you’re dating.”

It is understood Christine has enjoyed a number of secret dates with 31-year-old Lampard, who had a bitter split with his fiancee Elen Rives (34) last year.

On Saturday at 2am she was photographed leaving his home accompanied by one of his close friends.

Rumours of their fledgling romance began to circulate after they were spotted together at London nightclub Amika a fortnight ago. So far the couple have not actually been captured on camera, save for a much-used shot of Christine at Whisky Mist — with the footballer’s reflection captured on a pane of glass.

The snappers had clearly been tipped off about the former BBC Northern Ireland presenter’s movements last Friday night, hence the posse camped outside Lampard’s place hoping to catch the pair off-guard. In the end what they got was Christine leaving with a friend of the football star, rather than the man himself.

But since the weekend the paparazzi’s interest in the couple intensified, culminating in Monday’s ‘showdown’ and the frank admission, so to speak, at the pub.

When contacted by the Belfast Telegraph recently Christine laughed off the rumours and said she thought the public had heard enough about her love life. She was unavailable for comment last night.

There has been much speculation about the former Strictly Come Dancing competitor’s love life since she split with her Belfast businessman boyfriend Mark Beirne at the start of the year.

She denied any romance with One Show co-presenter Adrian Chiles, who was recently divorced from radio news and current affairs presenter Jane Garvey.

a - think you're taking this a bit too seriously!

Why is she even on TV? She totally loves herself and is loving all the publicity - you can tell by her constant smiling and posing for the photographers!Get this woman off TV, I hate inflating her large ego even more than it already is. When are we going to get some female presenters from Northern Ireland on National TV who aren't the giggley girls -another example is Zoe Salmon- a total embarrassment!

Omar - WAG is an acronym used particularly by the British tabloid press to describe the wives and girlfriends of high-profile football players, originally the England national football team. What else would they refer to her as?!

It must be a really slow news week if you think this is headline news! So what if Christine has started dating a man who just happens to play football, and is paid an absolutley obsence amount of money to chase a little white ball up and down a bit of grass a couple of hours a week...big deal! Thats not news thats gossip and not worth the newsprint. Get a grip.

OOOOOH the bitter pill of a life unfulfilled....

hg says this isn't worthy of comment, then goes on to make a comment. He/She also fires in a load of random commas into the middle of his comment. Just what on earth is going on here?

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
