Funeral of young broadcasting star Donna to take place today

The devastated family of talented young broadcaster Donna Ferguson was today preparing to say a final farewell to her as she is laid to rest in Co Fermanagh.

Requiem Mass will be held for the 24-year-old at noon at St Patrick's Church in Belleek, close to her family home in the village's Daly Park.

The rising radio star was killed in a three-car collision as she travelled to a radio station in Omagh on Wednesday morning to start a new job filling in over the Christmas holidays.

Despite her young age, Donna was an experienced television and radio journalist, having worked for Londonderry-based television station Channel Nine and Ocean FM.

She reported live for RTE News on the Bali bombings of October last year after narrowly escaping death when one exploded within yards of her.

Mourners will be led by Donna's heartbroken parents, Gerry and Mary, and her sister Serena (23) and brothers Paul (22) and Sean (19).
