Gang victim to be buried today
Thursday, 25 October 2007
Family members and friends will pack St Patrick's Church today to say their
final goodbyes to the young man, beaten to death by a gang of nine men on
Saturday.
Virtually every bone in his body was broken as he was
bludgeoned to death by iron bars and pick-axe handles in a remote Co
Monaghan shed.
The Quinn family believe he was murdered by the IRA
after being involved in rows with republicans - a claim refuted by Sinn Fein.
A two-day post mortem examination stated that cause of death was "
injuries... consistent with a serious assault".
The cortege
will leave his home at Drumlougher Road at 10.15am for Requiem Mass at 11am.
He will be buried in the nearby cemetery.
Archbishop of Armagh Dr
Sean Brady said: "This barbaric deed should be seen for what it is -
evil and inexcusable, causing revulsion and shame in all right-minded people.
"
He urged people to pass on information to gardai or PSNI.
Gardai believe Mr Quinn was killed by people who were previously Provisional
IRA members.
