Goody admitted to hospice after hallucinations
Saturday, 28 February 2009
Cancer-stricken Jade Goody remained positive today after spending a "far more comfortable night" at a hospice, her publicist Max Clifford said.
The terminally-ill Big Brother star, 27, left her home in Upshire, Essex last night.
She was taken to St Clare Hospice, in Hastingwood, near Harlow, Essex, after suffering hallucinations from her medication on Thursday, Mr Clifford said.
Newlywed Goody is expected to spend three days in the hospice.
"I've spoken to one of her friends and they said she had a far more comfortable night," said Mr Clifford.
"It was her choice to go there because, obviously, with what went wrong on Thursday, she wanted to make sure it didn't happen again."
Mr Clifford said one of the reasons for her admission was to shield her agony from her two sons, Bobby, five, and Freddie, four.
"They are not at the hospice," said Mr Clifford. "They will be going to see her today. They don't know it's a hospice - they think that she is in hospital.
"She certainly wouldn't want to be hallucinating in front of them or anybody. That's all part and parcel of why she has done it."
Despite her condition, Mr Clifford said Goody was determined to go ahead with her plans to have her sons and herself christened next weekend.
"That's what she is hoping and that's the plan - for next Saturday," said Mr Clifford. "It will be a local church and then a party afterwards for all the children. She wants to make it as big a party as possible.
"She is going to get christened as well. She wanted to do that. Her boys are going to get christened and she wanted to do it at the same time."
Goody is also hoping to be well enough to film an interview with Piers Morgan for ITV.
"It will happen early next week and be broadcast later on in the month," said Mr Clifford.
Goody, who married Jack Tweed, 21, last Sunday, has been given just weeks to live after her cervical cancer spread to her liver, groin and bowel.
But Mr Clifford said her condition had been "relatively good", aside from the setback on Thursday.
"She is being very positive," he said. "You can't say she has been fine because she is dying from cancer but - apart from what happened on Thursday - she has been relatively good.
"She has been very tired after the wedding because it took a lot of out of her. But she knew it would."
Mr Clifford confirmed Goody had been "upset" by a row she had with a neighbour as she left her home yesterday.
It is understood the dispute surrounded the presence of media outside her property.
"She was sobbing down the phone," said Mr Clifford. "She said to me: 'How can he be so nasty. I didn't arrange for the photographers to be outside. He knows I'm dying from cancer'."
