Snow Patrol are giving local fans the chance to star in their new video

Fans of Northern Irish indie rockers Snow Patrol are being invited to play a starring role in their new video.

The band are preparing to launch their fifth album — and their first new material since the 2006 album Eyes Open — and are shooting a new video in central London next Monday, August 11.

The album, recorded in Ireland and Berlin, will be called One Hundred Million Suns, as exclusively revealed by the Belfast Telegraph last week.

And they’re on the hunt for extras, aged 18-35, to appear in a pub scene at night.

According to the band, the filming is likely to take place late at night, possibly after midnight.

Posting on the band’s website, the five-piece said that the roles — the only acting parts in the video — were “unpaid, but a lot of fun”.

“It’s going to be an incredible looking video directed by Alex Courtes, so if you’d like to be involved, please get in touch asap,” they said.

Anyone wishing to give it a go and who is prepared to travel to London for the shoot is asked to email their name, a photograph of themselves and a mobile telephone number to snowpatrol@partizan.com.

The Grammy-award nominated group isn’t the only one to feature fans in their videos.

New Romantics Spandau Ballet invited fans along to the Beat Route Club in London when they were filming Chant No. 1 (I Don’t need This Pressure On) while U2 famously attracted large crowds of fans to the Los Angeles video shoot of Where The Streets Have No Name.

Snow Patrol’s new album is due for release in autumn and it is expected the band will be back in Northern Ireland early next year\[Carmel Robinson\] to play a major homecoming gig.

Can i ask why you have to be between 18 - 35 to appear in this video? As far as i know people of all ages buy their albums, go to their concerts ... age isn't important then, what a suprise!!

Brown can't even stick to his own nonsense on Afghanistan

Bit by bit, as happened with Iraq, the reasons for staying in Afghanistan slide into gibberish. So Gordon Brown's reasons for the war seem to change every week.

Cannabis: it’s time to stop the lies and start a rational debate

It doesn't require a Leap of faith to support the growing calls for a radical rethink of policy on drugs and in particular on the decriminalisation of cannabis.

We're stuck with the Assembly . . . and it's no laughing matter

A few evenings ago the Minister of Health at Stormont, Michael McGimpsey, was to be seen on the television news offering his audience what he termed a 'joke'.
