Joiner left hanging by toes after crane collapse, court told
Thursday, 6 May 2010
A joiner has told how he was left “hanging on with my toes” over scaffolding after a crane collapsed at a building site.
Giving evidence to Belfast Crown Court, Patsy Donnelly said he and two colleagues were putting rafters on houses at Danesfort in Stranmillis when the jib of the 30-metre crane fell. In the dock accused of breaching health and safety regulations is Trevor Bailie.
He is charged with failing to take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that workers on the site were not exposed to risks on dates between November 13 2006 and January 19 2007 when the accident occurred.
