‘Adorable’ Derry teenager wins hearts of X Factor

enlargeA talented Ulster teen has become one of the stars of the new X Factor series after wowing the judges at the London auditions.
Singing ‘Home’ by Michael Buble and Eric Clapton’s ‘Tears In Heaven’, schoolboy Eoghan Quigg (15) from Co Londonderry charmed judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole who had no hesitation sending him through to the next round of auditions — the X Factor bootcamp.
“I just want to come here today to see if I’m any good. I want to be up on a stage with the lights shining down on me. I wake up in the morning and just want to sing. It is my life,” he told the show’s presenter Dermot O’Leary as he nervously waited to face the judges.
Shortly before Eoghan entered the audition room Louis was filmed lamenting the lack of talent so far that day, saying: “I just wish someone good would come along.”
Moments later the judges could not disguise their delight when Eoghan began to sing.
“I think you’re terrific. You’ve just got it — a good voice, you look good, chicks are going to love you and the mums are going to love you,” Simon told him.
Louis told him he has “star quality all over” and Dannii told him he was “adorable”. Cheryl added: “I think you’re so cute. You have a really great range. Your performance was fantastic. I really enjoyed it.”
“It means the world to me. Words can’t describe how much it means to me. It is unbelievable,” he said afterwards.
Eoghan will now go on to the next round, the X Factor bootcamp, where he will have to perform for the judges over a number of days. If he gets through bootcamp he will join a select few to spend a number of days at one of the judge’s homes where the finalists for the live TV shows are chosen.
If Eoghan is successful in the next rounds of the competition he will become the second Northern Ireland hopeful to reach the finals of the talent show.
In 2005 Philip Magee from Larne reached the final weeks of the competition but was voted off midway through by Simon.
The winner of the X Factor receives a £1m recording contract.
One of Northern Ireland’s most successful winners of a television talent show is Nadine Coyle from Girls Aloud. After winning Pop Stars: The Rivals in 2002 Nadine and bandmates Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh went on to become one of the most successful British pop groups of the decade.

eohgan should go through to the final he needs to be a star even if his voice can't reach the high pice notes he can still do it.
