‘Forgotten’ thief jailed
Saturday, 28 November 2009
A man who robbed a small shop over 10 years ago has been jailed for six months after he agreed to spend a further year on probation.
Belfast Crown Court heard that along with two other men in February 1999, 41-year-old Paul James Walsh robbed ‘The Avenue' shop in north Belfast but failed to turn up at court and was not re-arrested until last May.
Judge Geoffrey Miller QC said it appeared “the matter was simply forgotten by the authorities”.
