Mail protest delays Christmas deliveries

A sorting office protest in Fermanagh yesterday had customers up in arms over the disruption of Christmas mail.

Staff at the Enniskillen sorting office staged a sit-in yesterday morning about the levels of overtime available this Sunday.

Although the dispute was quickly resolved, customers in the Fermanagh area were disgruntled about not receiving their festive cards and parcels on time.

One unhappy customer said: "I've been looking forward to receiving my Christmas cards and parcels from friends and family all over the world and missed out on any delivery yesterday because of the strike.

"I feel that both Royal Mail and the postmen who went on strike are to blame."
