The father of a 17-year-old girl who was found stabbed to death in a car appeared in court charged with her murder yesterday.
Gary Fisher (47) spoke only to confirm his name and address during a short hearing at Llanelli Magistrates Court in west Wales.
Police found the body of Chanelle Sasha Jones after stopping a Ford Fiesta on the A487 near Aberaeron on Sunday night.
The teenager from Cardigan, and known to pals as Sasha, was reported missing hours earlier. A post-mortem examination revealed she died of stab wounds.
Wearing a black jumper and with a tattoo on his shaven head, Fisher of Solihull, West Midlands, stood in the dock as the charge of murdering Sasha on August 2 in Cardigan was read out. He was remanded in custody until a crown court appearance on August 14.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is to investigate the response of Dyfed-Powys Police to a report by a family member that Sasha had gone missing.
