A Londonderry man who admitted making indecent images of children has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register and told that he faced a significant custodial sentence.
Adrian Mark Goligher (41) from Stevenson Park, Tullyally, in the Waterside area, pleaded guilty to eight specific charges of making the images when he was arraigned before the city's Crown Court. He committed the offences between September and November 2007.
Judge Piers Grant QC told Goligher that because of the serious nature of the offences “it will be surprising if you do not receive a significant custodial sentence”. A prosecution barrister told the court that the eight charges related to eight movies, six of which were at the lower category two level and one each at categories three and four.
Applying for Goligher to be released on continuing bail “to enable him to sort out his personal affairs”, defence barrister Eoghan Devlin said the defendant has been suspended from his job at a fast food outlet. Judge Grant said he was granting the application “with some hesitation”.
Goligher is to be sentenced for the offences on January 11.
