Man forced onto his roof by home raiders

A man was forced to climb on to the roof of his home today as four attackers armed with knives ransacked his property.

Police in north Belfast were called to reports of a disturbance in the Manor Street area at around 6.15am.

The occupant escaped the attack by climbing on to the roof of the house while a number of windows, a glass door and furniture was smashed below.

"Four males, ages 20, 18, and two aged 16, have been arrested and are currently helping police with their enquiries," said a PSNI spokeswoman.

"Police would appeal to anyone who was in the area and who witnessed the incident or noticed any suspicious activity to contact them."
