Man on murder charge as stab victim is buried

A 35-year-old man is expected to appear at Coleraine Magistrate’s Court this morning charged with the murder of Larne man Kenneth Nicholl a week ago.

The father-of-one died after he was stabbed numerous times in Larne.

His body was found lying in an alley between Herbert Avenue and Waterloo Road, close to his home.

Police investigating the 29-year-old’s murder also arrested a 60-year-old woman yesterday afternoon on suspicion of withholding information. Last night she remained in police custody at the serious crime suite in Antrim. Her arrest follows the arrest of the 35-year-old man on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, police believe local people may have vital information about the killing.

Detectives revisited the scene at the weekend in an attempt to gather more information from witnesses. Detective chief inspector Jonathan Roberts appealed for public help with the investigation.

Mr Nicholl was buried on Saturday following a service at the town's Old Presbyterian Church.
