A 20-year-old man is seriously ill in hospital after being stabbed up to four times in west Belfast.
The victim was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital after being found lying on Shaw’s Road suffering stomach wounds at around 3.15am on Saturday.
His condition was described as “serious but stable”.
SDLP councillor Tim Attwood condemned the stabbing and appealed for information to be brought forward to the police.
“This is a very serious stabbing incident which has left a young man with four stab wounds,” he said.
“It is essential that anybody with information about this brutal attack passes it on to the PSNI. The person or persons behind this attack need to be caught and brought to justice.
“Knife crime is a scourge on our community and anybody involved in knife crime should face a heavy prison sentence,” he added.
