A man threatened to have his pregnant ex-partner tarred and feathered, the High Court heard yesterday.
Prosecutors claimed Gareth Hyndman (34) told her he would “put her in pain” so she would lose the baby. In another menacing phonecall he warned she would be dead within the hour after she refused to get back with him, it was alleged.
Hyndman, of Larchfield Gardens, Kilrea, Co Londonderry, faces charges of aggravated assault on a female, threats to kill and assault on police. He was denied bail due to the risk of any further offences being committed.
Crown counsel Ian Tannahill said the woman claimed Hyndman arrived at her home on July 12 and made a gesture of putting a gun to his head.
Two days later he made the call in which he threatened the victim — who is more than 30 weeks pregnant — would be tarred and feathered, it was claimed.
Hyndman was detained and then released from custody, but three hours later the woman alerted police to further calls.
Hyndman's barrister told the court his case was that the woman made the phonecalls to him.
