Monday, 16 November 2009
Republican Sinn Fein has appointed a new president to replace long-standing leader Ruairi O’Bradaigh.
Des Dalton, party vice president, takes over from Mr O’Bradaigh this month. Mr Dalton has been a member of the party, which formed after a split from mainstream Sinn Fein, since 1989 and vice-president since 2003.
He represented Republican Sinn Fein in the 2004 and 2009 elections for Athy Town Council in Co Kildare.
