Golf star Sir Nick Faldo has said that he was “absolutely delighted” after his father's lost watch was handed in to police during the Open Championship.
The watch was found by amateur golfer Gordon Campbell and his wife Angela from Motherwell near the tented village at the Open in St Andrews on Tuesday.
The couple handed it to police at the site and it was recorded as found property.
Later that day, Sir Nick contacted police to find out whether the watch, lost by his 84-year-old father George, had been found.
It had been a gift to mark his 80th birthday from Sir Nick and his four children.
Sir Nick said: “ It has been great to be able to thank Mr Campbell personally for his act of courtesy in handing the watch to police.”
