Northern Ireland anti-war protestors arrested at US defence firm

Wednesday, 14 January 2009

Police today arrested five anti-war protesters outside the Northern Ireland offices of US defence firm Raytheon.

Nine women chained themselves together on the top floor of the building at the science and technology park in Londonderry in protest at the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

The demonstration by the Derry Anti-War Coalition began at the Springtown plant at about 2.30pm today.

The women were later allowed to leave by police and the protest has ended.

Those arrested were men aged between 18 and 66.

The five men were later charged with a range of offences including criminal damage, obstructing, resisting and assaulting police and burglary.

They will appear next month at Londonderry Magistrates' Court.

What kind of article is this? How many people were at the protest? The women chained themselves and were not arrested and those arrested were men? Okay, so what did they do? Was there a clash between protestors and police? Why? How did it start? I just cannot visualize any of this at all. Were there just ten people at the protest? Thank you.

You're STILL mispelling "protesters" (latest is in this headline:
"Northern Ireland anti-war protestors arrested at US defence firm").
Does anyone actually read these comments... and maybe try to ensure they don't happen again?
I doubt it... as this is the third time in recent weeks that I've pointed out this inacuracy. But, as I have included my Email address, would it be too much to ask for a response.?

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
