Around 1,300 homes have been left without power in north Belfast during bad weather.

Large parts of the area were affected by electricity cuts as temperatures plummeted.

Sinn Fein Assembly member Caral Ni Chuilin praised Northern Ireland Electricity staff for working to restore connections.

"Given the adverse weather this is obviously a cause of great concern particularly for families and elderly people," she said.

"I want to commend and thank the efforts put in by Northern Ireland Electricity workers to restore power to the affected homes."
