Is this Northern Ireland's most expensive apartment?

It may boast just two bedrooms - but this penthouse accommodation will set you back a cool £2,250 a month.

The 1,800sq foot Millennium Court executive pad located at Downshire Place, just off Belfast's Golden Mile, comes furnished with marble flooring, underfloor heating and an internal sauna.

The advertising description for the property offered by estate agents Burbridge DuCann describes it as coming with a "breathtaking wow factor".

It includes a security-coded lift up to a cherry wood-panelled entrance hall that leads into high-tech accommodation.

Inside, there is a sound system, curtains and lighting system, and the heating system is operated by a portable master controller. Other notable features include a 52in plasma TV with cinema surround system, a letterbox gas fireplace and a walk-in wardrobe.

A walkaround balcony circles the apartment with access from both bedrooms and the living area. The last tenant in the apartment was a rocket scientist, and before that it was rented by a film company.

Property agent Steven McCann said the apartment had been constantly occupied for more than three years.

"It has only just come available. We had a corporate client in it for a year-and-a-half, a guy who was actually a rocket scientist working for an aeronautical company who were setting up a project in Belfast," he told the Belfast Telegraph.

"That seems to be where most of our high-end apartments are going – to corporate clients coming in who want a nice place to stay for a year or so.

"We have had that apartment rented consistently now for three-and-a-half years at that level."

Mr McCann said he was not aware of any apartments in Northern Ireland commanding a higher rental price, but defended it as good value.

"It's a combination of size, location and just how special and different it is," he said. "All those factors add together to make it unique.

"This property was originally two apartments converted into one apartment.

"It is stunning, with a private access lift that you can only access with a special code, so no one else can get to that floor.

"Millennium Court is double the size of other apartments of a similar price. It's more bespoke and like the kind of apartment you see in the film Pretty Woman.

"The master bedroom is actually a suite of rooms, like a five-star hotel room.

"It's a pleasure to be able to get to see some of these apartments and a privilege to look after them for the clients."

Mr McCann said apartments of similar specification would rent for at least €6,000 (£4,769) a month in Dublin – and up to £12,000 a month in London. The only other apartment currently being offered for rent for more than £2,000 in Belfast is the penthouse of The Boat complex on the banks of the Lagan. It includes two bedrooms and a panoramic view over Belfast for £2,200 per month.
