Accident girl stable in hospital

A young girl is in a stable condition in hospital after she was knocked down in Ballymena.

She was struck by a vehicle in the Orkney Drive area in Ballykeel Estate around 6pm last night.

She was taken by ambulance to Antrim Area Hospital where late last night it’s believed she was being treated for serious injuries but is in a stable condition.

An Ambulance Service spokes- man said she was treated by paramedics at the scene for 20 minutes before being rushed to hospital.

It’s understood the hospital was pre-alerted to the level of her injuries before the child’s arrival.

Last night sources in the area said the girl may have been struck by a bus while getting ice-cream at a nearby van close to her home.

Ballymena councillor Declan O’Loan said his thoughts were with the family of the young girl.
