Appeal for witnesses to Belfast fracas

The Police Ombudsman has appealed for information about an incident near a north Belfast pub during which a man in his early 20s sustained a fractured knee.

The incident happened as police dealt with disturbances close to The Village Inn, known locally as The Ligoniel Tavern, on the Ligoniel Road, in the early hours of Sunday, December 12, 2010.

Anyone with any information about how the man sustained his injuries is asked to contact the Police Ombudsman’s freephone witness appeal line on 0800 032 7880.

A spokesman added: “We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have taken mobile phone footage of the incident.”
