A man has been remanded in custody charged with the attempted murder of a woman during a stabbing incident at the Grove Wellbeing Centre in Belfast.
Darren Todd (23), from Pound Street, Newtownards, appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday charged with the frenzied knife attack in the north Belfast centre, in which he is accused of stabbing a woman over 20 times.
Mary McReynolds (40) is in a stable condition in the Royal Victoria Hospital after the incident on Thursday afternoon, where she received treatment for multiple stab wounds to her arms, shoulder and back.
Mr Todd is charged with her attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and attempt to cause grievous bodily harm with intent to Patrick McGarrigle.
During his short appearance at court, Mr Todd — dressed in a dark blue T-shirt — was told that police could connect him to the charges.
He was remanded to appear via video-link on September 9.
