Army deals with suspect object in north Belfast

A controlled explosion was carried out after the discovery of a suspect object.

The Cavehill Road in north Belfast was shut between the Antrim Road and Willowbank Gardens during the alert last night.

The PSNI later described the suspect device as a hoax.

It is understood that around 35 neighbouring families had to be evacuated for a short time.
