Belfast bomb alerts cause traffic chaos

The police declared a bomb alert at a Sinn Fein office in north Belfast yesterday as a hoax.

The Antrim Road between Cavehill Road and Duncairn Gardens was closed for much of Tuesday morning after a suspicious object was discovered outside the building on Oceanic Avenue.

A second alert at Law Society House in Victoria Street, Belfast, led to a road closure and saw a number of buildings evacuated.

Nothing untoward was found.
