Tributes have been paid to a young Northern Ireland man who died suddenly on holiday on a Spanish island last week.

Kyle Carlisle (24), originally from Comber, who worked in Belfast as a hairdresser, died last Friday in Gran Canaria.

Exact details of his death have not been revealed but it is thought he may have died after choking.

Following his death family and friends have inundated a Facebook tribute page with messages of condolence.

One friend wrote: “Kyle you were crazy on earth and I know there is an amazing party you just started in heaven. Keep it going until we get there sweetheart.”

Another wrote: “Still trying to get my head round the fact you will never be seen again. I miss the old days of messing around in Comber. You will never be forgotten. You left a piece of you in everyone’s heart RIP.”

Ken Troy, a close friend of Kyle’s, paid tribute to his pal: “Early in 2008, I met Kyle.

“It was astonishing how quickly our friendship developed. I found him to be a most vibrant and energetic soul with a zest and zeal for life that would leave you breathless.

“Throughout the time I knew him I saw and respected the deep care and concern he had for his friends. He was there when you needed support, be it emotional or financial.

“I recall instances when Kyle would give his wages to friends who were struggling to make ends meet.

“I even remember him giving not only his clothes away, but mine as well: ‘Ken, you have loads and that wee fella needs it more than you’. How could you say ‘no’ to that rationale?”

Mr Troy said: “Kyle returned to Gran Canaria to lend his support to a friend. Her fiancé had recently passed away and she wanted her dear friends to be with her for the funeral service.

“Kyle saw the inherent goodness in everyone, even those with whom he was not friends.”
