A 26-year-old woman has admitted swindling her employer out of tens of thousands of pounds.

Aine McManus pleaded guilty to seven charges involving theft, forgery and fraud when she appeared at Enniskillen Crown Court yesterday.

When McManus initially appeared in court, in the dock of Dungannon Crown Court last August, she denied all the charges against her.

McManus, of Manger Road, Moneedogue, Belleek, subsequently appeared at Omagh Crown Court and pleaded guilty to two of the offences.

She admitted that between March 1, 2008, and August 31, 2009, she dishonestly abused her position to carry out internet banking transactions to the value of £52,700 with the intention of making a gain for herself or cause a loss to her employer, Sean McCauley.

She also admitted that on dates between January 1, 2009, and March 1, 2010, she dishonestly abused her position by lodging cheques to the value of £4,500, drawn from company funds, to her own bank account.

She denied five other charges.

However, when McManus appeared in Enniskillen courthouse this week, her defence barrister, Rory Fee, asked for her to be re-arraigned on the five charges to which she had previously pleaded not guilty.

Standing in the dock she changed her pleas, admitting the five outstanding offences.

McManus admitted that between April 2007 and March 2010 she stole cheque books belonging to Sean McCauley and forged cheques in his name to the value of £4,500.

She also admitted forging cheques which were drawn on company funds amounting to some £11,250 and dishonestly abusing her position by cashing them at the Straddle filling station at Belleek.

She further admitted dishonestly by misusing Sean McCauley’s credit card to make a gain for herself.

McManus is due to reappear in court for sentencing on March 6, following the preparation of reports.
