A blind man walking with a guide dog has been assaulted in Bangor, police have said.

The victim was punched twice in the incident on Saturday afternoon.

He was assaulted by a man in the Castle Park Avenue area at around 12.45pm following what officers described as a "minor verbal altercation" with the attacker's wife.

Police said his assailant punched him in the chest and then walked away.

When the blind man followed, the man punched him in the chest a second time.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
